Chicago Pride Parade 2013:Reaches 1 Million in Attendance

In 2013, 1 million people attended the Chicago Pride Parade on Broadway and Halsted street in the Boystown neighborhood. This 44th annual parade broke 2012 attendance record of 850,000. In 2014, the record remains constant. Will this record of attendance ever increase? Before this record, the Supreme Court ruled that there wouldn’t be same sex marriage.

However, within 2013, Governor Pat Quinn signs Illinois bill of same sex marriage. Illinois became the 16th state to allow same sex marriage. Gov. Pat Quinn gives a speech about liberty and recites the beginning of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address to emphasize that this primary piece serves purpose to ‘All men are created equal’ and its importance of liberation for the LGBTQ community. Below is a data piece of the Chicago Pride Parade attendance from 1990 to 2014.
